If You Choose To....

Our days are filled with choices and decisions. There are always two roads to choose from, but God has given us free will. The choice to make our own decisions is left to us. He’s promised things to us, as believers, if we choose to follow Him. It’s just like a game show, where you have two doors with prizes behind them. One door has a toaster, and the other has 1 million dollars. Whichever door you select is your prize. You’re hoping for the million, but you have a 50/50 chance of getting the toaster. Our options with Jesus are the same, but on a much larger scale. The prizes behind the doors have the ability to ruin or save our lives.

But we, as humans, have a natural desire to sin. We’re born with it. So we often choose to take the broader road, the road that most people go down. It usually appears to be an easy road, not too many obstacles, but little do we know while we’re on this journey, that at the end is a toaster. However, God tells us that the rewards are so much greater if we choose the narrower path. This is the road that most people don’t pursue because it takes a lot more discipline and focus to walk this path. The prize at the end of this road though is priceless. The chance for an eternal life with Him is waiting for us at the finish line. The Bible tells us “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the inequity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). This tells us that even though we choose our own path at times, He’s already paid the price for our future sins. He’s already got the first aid kit ready because He knows we’re going to fall. But we must get up and keep pressing forward down this narrow path.

He wants us to choose His team. And He prepares us with the tools and resources to do that. It’s not always calm, but as we grow spiritually, it becomes easier to lead a godly life. And we still fall, but He helps us up and nudges us to keep going.

The road gets easier WITH HIM. And the rewards are so much greater IF YOU CHOOSE TO follow HIM.
